Bio

Mattia Vezzoli is an artist and engineer, born in Italy and currently based in the United States. His artistic practice focuses on abstract art, utilizing acrylic on canvas to explore form and emotion.

When he’s not making art, Mattia is pursuing a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Yale University.

While his engineering work involves precision and functionality, his approach to art is the opposite. In his paintings, there are no rules or imposed structure. His work is meant to be spontaneous, emotional, and dream like. 

Recently, Mattia has begun exploring the intersection between engineering and art, incorporating elements from both disciplines into his paintings. He has collaborated with sculptors at the Yale School of Art, contributing to the creation of dynamic, moving sculptures that blur the lines between art and engineering.
